PBIS Information

At River Valley School, we implement a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program that focuses on creating a positive, respectful, and supportive school environment for all students. PBIS is a proactive framework that emphasizes teaching students the behaviors and expectations that contribute to a safe and productive school environment.

At River Valley School, every student is encouraged to Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well. Together with our families, we help students develop the character, confidence, and skills they need to thrive.

Be Kind

Kindness is the foundation of our school community. We foster a culture where every student feels valued, included, and respected. Through daily interactions and meaningful learning experiences, students learn to demonstrate:

  • Respect for themselves, others, and their community
  • Empathy by understanding and appreciating different perspectives
  • Compassion through caring actions that support and uplift others

When we are kind, we create a school where everyone belongs. 

Be Strong

Being strong means more than academic success—it means building the character and resilience to overcome challenges and continue growing. At River Valley, students are encouraged to demonstrate:

  • Responsibility by making thoughtful choices and taking ownership of their actions
  • Courage to try new things, stand up for what is right, and learn from mistakes
  • Perseverance by working through challenges and never giving up

When we are strong, we become confident learners and leaders. 

Be Well

Well-being supports every aspect of learning and growth. We strive to help students develop healthy habits, positive relationships, and a joyful outlook while encouraging them to practice:

  • Gratitude by appreciating the people and opportunities around them
  • Honesty through integrity and trustworthiness in their words and actions
  • Creativity by exploring ideas, solving problems, and expressing themselves in meaningful ways

When we are well, we build a positive, balanced foundation for lifelong success. 

By reinforcing these pillars, our PBIS program helps build a school culture where students feel supported, valued, and motivated to succeed. Students set individual goals and classroom goals and have the opportunity to earn Bulldog Bucks when demonstrating these values. We work closely with families to create a strong partnership in promoting these behaviors, ensuring that our students are not only academically successful but also socially and emotionally resilient.
